The distinction matters for outdoor activities, beach conditions, and Nusa islands boat crossings. It matters less for a cultural trip, a wellness retreat, or a villa stay in Sanur, where the covered promenade and calm reef-protected bay remain pleasant year-round.

Peak wet season. Daily rainfall is common in the afternoon and evenings, with mornings often clear. Crowds are low after the December–New Year rush. Prices drop to their lowest across the year. Waterfalls are at their most dramatic. River rafting on the Ayung is excellent — high water levels make the rapids more technical and exciting. Good for: budget travel, cultural immersion, waterfalls, white water rafting.

The quietest and most affordable month in Bali. Wet season continues but rainfall tends to be short and intense rather than all-day. Fewer tourists than any other month. Nyepi (Bali’s Day of Silence) sometimes falls in February or March a remarkable experience if you plan around it (the island shuts down completely for 24 hours). Good for: couples seeking privacy, slow-paced villa stays, witnessing local Balinese culture without tourist crowds.
March
